Top 10 Working Parents' Blogs

Balancing your career or business with other areas of your life is challenging at the best of times, but throw children into the equation and you're looking at what can frequently seem like an overwhelming task! The thing to remember is that you're not alone as a working parent-and it's getting increasingly easier to keep this in mind as the parent blogging community continues to grow.
Blogs by working parents, for working parents, come in many a different form, but the best ones will offer amusing and informative tales of personal experience; support in facing challenges head on; advice and tips on the daily juggle and more long-term issues; inspiration for excelling both in your career and as a parent; or all of the above.
Here are 10 of Position Ignition's favourite blogs for working parents:
- Blogs Rock-The blogs on the Mums Rock website are each written by a different mum with a different story to tell, including several working mums. Are you sleep-deprived in the suburbs? Working from home (or trying to)? Housewife who also works full-time? There's a blog for that.
- Mum's the Blog-The official blog of Mum's the Boss, the website supporting mums in business. The blog covers both the professional and personal sides of being a mumpreneur. You'll find business tips mixed in with advice for looking after your own wellbeing.
- A working mum's blog-Multi-talented Mumpreneur Helen Pritchard blogs about her experiences as a mum to two young girls, writer, business owner, and networker! Essential reading for fellow mumpreneurs as Helen shares hilarious ancedotes and reports back from conferences specifically for business mums.
- Career Mom Speaks-Career Mom speaks, and she does so candidly. Mari, a full-time working mum of two is also a part-time entrepeneur, so she knows all about juggling your life with your work with your family. Blogs about everything from what it takes to be the boss to the effects of stress.
- Battling On-Battling On is the blog of Paula Battle, copywriter and mum of three. Paula blogs honestly and openly about different aspects of her life, including the challenges (and joys) of being a working parent. This blog is a great example of invoking discussion through the sharing of personal experiences.
- Wirral Mums-Wirral Mums, the online magazine for mums (and, it admits, dads as well!), has a blog that covers numerous parenting topics including being a working parent. To date, there are posts on the qualities of a mumpreneur, being a caregiver as well as a parent, and much more.
- Family Friendly Working-Family Friendly Working is a website and blog providing advice to working parents and mums thinking of working from home. The blog profiles different mumpreneurs, gives tips on starting your own business and reviews both books and eBooks.
- Mums Like You-With Mums Like You, you write the blogs. Register with the website and become part of a community that writes its own blogs on everything from business to social action. Position Ignition, of course, has its own profile there and we'll be adding a lot more posts very soon!
- MumStuff-MumStuff has recently launched its new website, complete with blog. The blog, amongst other topics, covers matters to do with working and parenthood including David Cameron's exploits as a working dad, maternity leave legislation, and the increase in working mothers.
- Working mum on the verge-This is a blog that promises to tell "the truth about having it all". It delivers on that promise by sharing the experiences of a Manchester working mum who blogs about the exploits of her family, what her local community is up to, and cupcakes!
