Wed, September 1, 2010 at 12:00
Identifying your unique energy, passion, talents and strengths is fundamental in determining the best role to meet your needs in the marketplace. Here are 9 steps to support you in relation to your ability and the needs of the market.
“Where your talents and the needs of the world collide, there lies your vocation” Aristotle
- Find a professional that will ask you questions and listen: What are your strengths? What are you good at? What are you passionate about? What skills, experience and knowledge do you have? Where is your energy?
- Discover what’s available, do some research and identify options. Be creative and have fun. Identify criteria and evaluate them against your options.
- Clarity – what is your purpose? What do you want to achieve? Work toward focusing on that one thing that resonates with you.
- Vision – what is your direction of travel or plan to achieve your goal?
- Think about your option from other viewpoints. Talk to people, conduct research, be realistic and be open to thinking from other perspectives.
- Examine the numbers. Know how much you need to earn. Be realistic about how much money you require.
- Take the time and space to think; Find a thinking partner, someone who will listen and open your thinking up to numerous possibilities. As a result of your thinking, be sure to focus and take action. No action equals no results.
- Connect with your network and identify who may be able to assist you. Remember, your network is similar to a beautiful garden; it is crucial that it is cared for, tended to and ultimately, looked after.
- Take action and focus! Identify an action plan and targeting strategy; go ahead and just do it! Be active!
