Becoming a NED can be a very attractive option for those of us with the right experience and who are keen to get involved in businesses in this way. It isn't always the most transparent of areas though which is why we've pulled together some of the best NED focused websites that we know of to help you build your portfolio out further or if you're new the area - we hope that these offer a starting point for you to understand and explore the opportunities available to you.
NonExecutiveDirectors.com - claim to be the largest NED network in the world, with over 8000 members and 36 000 market opportunities. They also offer training courses and networking events for members. It's £299 + VAT for 1 year membership or £599 + VAT for 3 years.
NEDonBoard - is the largest UK network for Non Executive Director roles. They list NED opportunities on their website and offer networking events and information to their community. It's £99 for one year membership.
NEDExchange - founded in 1999, it focuses on promoting NEDs and connecting them with great organisations and opportunities. It's £250 to join followed by an annual £100 fee.
WarrenPartners - offers Chair and Non Executive Director search amongst other services such as leadership coaching, executive search and strategic board review. They're based in Pall Mall, London.
FT NonExecClub - this is a community and club for NEDs and is a one-stop destination for networking, resources and vacancies. It's £145 + VAT (so £174) for one year, £278 for 2 years or £366 for 3 years membership.
Violet Recruitment (WomenBoardMembers.co.uk) - is for women only and new members pay nothing until their first position is secured. Courses are also free of charge.
NonExecutiveDirector.org - is the brother site to Violet recruitment and they work by taking a matching fee when supporting someone to find a NED role
