Career Guide: Kate Mansfield
Kate joined Position Ignition after a very successful career in senior level recruitment, interim management and coaching. Kate first met Simon when he was operating as an interim manager and has subsequently followed Position Ignition’s launch and impressive journey with great interest.
Her focus is on supporting individuals through career change and transition, and helping them to find the clarity that they need to move forward. Kate works with clients across a wide range of roles and industries, with a particular interest in mid-career transition, and career issues affecting women, particularly mothers returning to the workplace. Kate is also well placed to support those leaving corporate life to become interim managers or to set up their own businesses.
Kate worked for 15 years in HR related recruitment and interim management. She recruited both permanent and interim HR professionals across all business sectors during a long career at Courtenay HR. She then launched the Executive HR Practice at Alium Partners and led their Executive Finance Practice. Kate built up a strong reputation as a leader in this industry, with a deep expertise in interim management careers and helping individual’s transition into this new way of working.
Kate’s passion for supporting individuals in career transition was borne out of her recruitment career. Having gone through extensive coaching herself, she recognised that the real joy for her was in helping to enable and empower people within their own working lives. She believes that each client has the answer to becoming more fulfilled in their career and that as an effective coach, you are creating the environment and the means for them to identify this and to move forward with a clear plan.
Kate experienced her own career transition moving from recruitment into the world of coaching, and indeed in leaving employment to become self-employed. She also did this at the same time as having her young son, Oscar! For her this was the catalyst to ensuring that the time she spent away from him, was in doing something that she had a true passion for.
Kate’s enthusiasm for careers is supported by her MSc in Organisational Behaviour from Birkbeck. She is also a trained Careers Counsellor and holds a license to practice through Career Counselling Services. She is also currently completing a Masters Diploma in Career & Talent Management at Kingston University.
