Career Guide: Nathalie Metcalf
Nathalie is an executive coach, trainer and career guide with over 12 years experience as a Strategy Consultant. She works with professional women in transition and has helped those who have re-entered work post MBA and maternity leave as well as supporting others progress into senior management and to find a balance between motherhood and work.
Nathalie’s experience working for global management consultancies Arthur D. Little (UK and Singapore) and Andersen Consulting (UK and Australia) gives her an appreciation of the career challenges that confront high-flying professionals at high-profile organisations. At Arthur D. Little she managed teams in the Travel and Tourism Practice working with high-level executives in organisations such as British Airways, Airtours, Going Places, Cyprus Airways and the Historic Royal Palaces.
In her various consulting roles, Nathalie has developed peers, juniors and clients, in terms of technical and soft skills. After her second child was born, she decided to develop a training business, serving clients ranging from consulting firms to private firms and the public Sector. She provided a range of programmes from management and leadership development, to facilitation and presentation skills, issue analysis, business communications and coaching.
Nathalie also has a vast amount of experience working with MBA students and the alumni of Executive MBA courses including those of INSEAD (in both UK and Singapore), Bath School of Management, Judge and Warwick Business Schools. She is well travelled, having lived in Mauritious, Singapore, UK, France and Australia.
Nathalie’s is inspired by other agents of change, such as Nelson Mandela and Barack Obama, but also appreciates her colleagues and friends enough to be equally inspired by them. Nathalie strongly endorses the Position Ignition message that you can take control of your own present and future instead of waiting around for something to happen. Her coaching philosophy is to provide a safe and reflective space for her clients, hence her favourite quote is, “Strike when the iron is cold”.
Nathalie holds a degree from Monash University in Australia and a MBA from INSEAD and more recently a Diploma in the Consulting and Coaching for Change Programme, also at INSEAD.
